DC53 Tool Steel is a tool steel with exceptional toughness, wear resistance, compressive strength and temper resistance. These properties are obtained through its chemistry. Primary Carbides in DC53 are relatively small with highly uniform distribution as compared to other lower grade tool steels such as D2. This helps to provide DC53 with its superior toughness and fatigue resistances. DC53 has twice the toughness of D2 with superior wear resistance and substantially higher fatigue strength compared to D2 and holds an edge extremely well.

SHEATH: The sheath with this set is a premium cowhide sheath. There is a a slot for Fire Starter rod, (not included). The sheath is designed to be worn Right Hand Scout and Left Hand Cross Draw Scout and Right Hand Vertical Belt Draw.
KNIFE CARE AND CLEANING: When needed, use a Diamond Wet Stone or better to re-sharpen the blade. When done using the knife, wash it in soap and water, dry completely, coat in olive oil and store away from the sheath. Leather pulls moisture out of the air and can rust the blade if stored improperly.
DETAILS: All IPAK knives and axes are 100% handmade. We do not use any CNC machining, water-jet, or pre-cut blanks to make our items. Each knife or Axe will be 100% unique and may have some handmade characteristics that make them unique.
